Executive Director Position: Currently Open/ Accepting Applications
 As the Executive Director you will work jointly with the Board of Directors and the management team to set strategic direction, implement and provide oversight of all management functions (e.g., business plan, property management, fiscal oversight, development/fundraising, grants), and lead a highly effective, mission driven, service-oriented employee work force. You will provide an environment for those served and employees which meets or exceeds state and federal standards for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities while upholding the corporate mission and values. 

 The leader we seek will bring to our team a strong history of working in the nonprofit sector, holding progressively more responsible leadership positions. Desirable attributes include a sound knowledge of developmental and intellectual disabilities, managed care, Medicaid and TennCare. This visionary leader will have the skills needed to effectively balance day to day operational needs while remaining focused on leading change and growth for Breakthrough.

 Minimum requirements:

1)      A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, management, social services or related field

2)      Five or more years of nonprofit management experience with increasing responsibility, including the supervision of management-level personnel

3)      A generalist background with broad knowledge of nonprofit organizational planning and administration, including finance, personnel, operations, and development

 Additional preferred attributes include:

1)      Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental and intellectual disabilities, their families, conservators, and other stakeholders

2)      A sound knowledge of managed care, Medicaid and TennCare

3)      Experience working within a Board of Directors governance structure

 Salary range: $75,000 - $80,000, commensurate with experience and education

Direct Support Professional or Personal Assistant Positions: Currently Open/Accepting Applications

DSP positions are available providing in-home support and community-based integration activities for people with Autism. Responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring the safety of the individual,engaging with the individual during his/her preferred activities, organizing and implementing planned activities for him/her, working with the individual on his/her activities of daily living skills (e.g., hygiene, grooming, cooking, chores, etc.).

Requirements: High school diploma and/or Associates degree. Previous experience working with individuals with Autism and/or other disabilities is requested. Must have a valid driver's license and automobile insurance, with a clean driving record.

Available Shifts: 8 am - 4 pm, 4 pm - 12 am, 12 am - 8 am; Miscellaneous Shifts for PA and ECF programs are available as well!

Saturday Respite and Recreation Program

DSP or PA positions are available for providing community-based recreational activities for adults with Autism on Saturdays from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm at our Respite and Recreation Program.
Requirements: High school diploma and/or Associates degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Previous experience working with individuals with Autism and/or other disabilities is requested. Must have a valid driver's license and automobile insurance, with a clean driving record.


Job Coach
 Job Coaches assist people with autism in residential and community settings, modeling and teaching skills, participating in situational assessments, providing transportation, supporting people on jobs, and helping people achieve personal outcomes. Job coaches are part of a professional team responsible for assisting each individual to live a safe, enjoyable life in their community with opportunities to learn and to exercise increasing independence in employment and volunteering.
 Requirements: College degree preferred. Some college, Associates degree, HS Diploma or GED accepted with relevant experience (experience may be paid or volunteer). Prior experience should include working with adults and/or children, in a training or supportive capacity. Job Coaches must: meet all requirements of licensing, regulatory and accrediting entities; possess a valid driver’s license; be able to work in close harmony with other staff in a team environment; be able to read and write and follow verbal and written instructions; present an objective outlook at all times; present an acceptable and morally upstanding character as well as physical appearance; be alert and observant during duty hours; be emotionally stable; have no restriction in areas of lifting(50lbs) on occasion, bending or prolonged standing; demonstrate a commitment to assisting people with developmental disabilities to participate fully in the life of their community; have a safe vehicle and good driving record, adequate insurance, license; possess varied interests and personal connections in the local community; have a proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer or school history); be able to work as part of a team.
